Scientists are still using the rovers to find evidence of life on Mars. They believe they found evidence of water, but that's still not confirmed. I don't believe life as we know it existed, but then again, I would have never believed in dinosaurs too!

I very much doubt that life as we know it (multi celled carbon based sentient life forms complete with culture) ever existed within the reaches of our solar system. If it were the case, i doubt that they would be carbon based at all since silicon is very dominant on the Martian surface and would be less likely to be a life building block due to it's inability to form into basic proteins. Their atmosphere too is mostly carbon dioxide (that black stuff that comes out of your car exhaust), and argon. In the future though, we might be able to mine the crap out of the Martian surface for basalt for our statues and cobblestones. Life on other parts of the galaxy and the universe is an entirely different story due to the SHEER SIZE and scope our galaxy alone, so for me personally, it is highly possible for life OUTSIDE our solar system to exist....just plain old statistics makes it highly likely.
If there were life on other planets, we would have known by now. You couldn't keep such things a secret. Although I do agree, that we surly can't be the only planet with life forms. Who knows!
I'd like to know what ore and minerals are up there. If we could find a substitute for oil and rare earth, then we would never have to worry about our national debt again! Well...Not until we got another Jackass in power again-anyways!

I hope they do find some kind of evidence. It's hard for me to believe that out of all the planets within our galaxy, only earth has life. It just doesn't seem feasible.
When they finally discover a little green/orange Martian, then I'll believe it too!
